The Great Family Portrait
Nothing is left to chance. Everything has its role, everything has its meaning. Clothes, body stance, the faces, even the family pets. Each detail is important, and as a whole they are turned into a big collage. Countless moments result in countless exposures which in turn are condensed into a Tableau of magical intensity.
Out of this tightly composed staging, Wurzer creates a group portrait which at the same time demonstrates familial solidarity, also special relationships among family members … and each person’s individuality, too. The space turns into a stage.
At the same time this field of forces emphasises the sense of belonging, the resemblances between the portrayed characters as well as each character’s own personality and dignity. Wurzer’s Family Sculptures refer to the classical family portrait, but it lifts this tradition onto a striking contemporary level.
